Hiking to the Kaprun dam

Hiking to the Kaprun dam

1 1Kaprun dam seen from the top weather

Good to tell the truth this photo don’t come from us but a sign that we photograph because the view that we had did not at all the same with rain, but this is to show how this place is without a doubt amazing weather.

1-2 Kaprun dam seen from the bottom

With the rain that fell continuously we hesitated to walk. The problem is that they themselves saw bad spend the day in the Partner. So we went by the tourist office who did not offer domestic business that fit into our budget. So it’s with a stroke of luck that we found this beautiful hike to mount at the foot of the dam of Kaprun, as in Austria, the indications on the hiking trails are quite hidden. So, we got out of the buses that take tourists to the top of the mountain and offers views of the Lakes, the dam and Zell am See as the first photo. Up there, the bus company officials we still sought to discourage us by explaining to us that there are at least 12 km walk to reach the dam. Fortunately, they tell us, even when the start of the trail so we borrowed. Finally 5 km later we meet at the foot of the dam.

The view is fantastic because we’re on the other side of lakes, but hiking worth it. We decide to not continue to market to get around the dam and maybe have a better view, because it rains a lot.

On the way back, we cross a cow MOM and her 3 Cubs who do not seem very happy to meet us and especially one of the calves who looks at us with a lot of malice. It would be still to be charged by a cow today then we go down fast.

1-10 The calf to the nasty look 🙂

Back to the car we stop at the edge of the River Salzach we prepare a meal and we’re about to spend the night here because the place looks pretty little frequented. But just we finished doing the dishes to a big car stop beside us. A gentleman opens his window and we shout “Honey honey honey”. It’s a little weird and we don’t quite understand what he’s talking about. It is a quatrain and finally he explains that he’s looking for honey for its pancakes. Actually seeing our car safe opened with a table before he thought we were selling honey along the road. We’re laughing and him too when he understands that we are just tourists. It’s true that we could still sell our honeypot of the Denmark.

Do 3 times in 3 hours in Werfenweng and bathe in Zell am See

Do 3 times in 3 hours in Werfenweng and bathe in Zell am See

We go to the Werfenweng ski resort to pick up the harness cocoon Kolibri sent by Kortel design in a paragliding school “teandem Fly”.

20

Once the parcel recovered is beautiful and all gliders in the sky invite us to fly with them so we hurry to equip without taking the time to discover the spot because time will turn the storm in the afternoon. So enjoy it now! We take the day of recovery in cable because (25 euros for the driver and 21 euros for the passenger) and here we are in the bubble with a two-seater pilot to fly tandem school we rising 900 metres above the landing.

The first flight is amazing. We follows gliders before us and pass on the right side of the mountain and then the second time, go explore gigantic rock circus that stands on our left. This is splendid.

For the last flight, the clouds begin to happen so remain cautious and decides to go down more quickly by making wings. Nicolas begins: a wing, two wings, three wings… and suddenly I don’t feel well at all and I ask him to stop but he continuous my ear to mouth, my head is spinning and I start to scream “NiiiicolAAAAAAAAs”. Not understanding what was happening to me, it’s the panic then once down let me explain. In fact it’s not very glamorous, but I had a plug in the ear that is put to me very badly during the wings, that’s why I was not very well during this flight. In short nothing serious. Found myself, the two-seater is folded before the rain and go for a shower well deserved in the Lake of Zell am See. Through the town of Zell See year, you meet a lot of veiled women, what intrigues us. After a little research on the internet, we learn that the Austria and Zell am See is a holiday destination that is highly rated by the Qatari who come to relax and take the air in the mountains. Back to our swim at the Lake, we put very long before you find a page that is not private or paid. Indeed, there are almost everywhere on the banks of the beach clubs owners of the beaches of the Lake. We don’t want to pay to swim, we follow discreetly towels teens who go to the Lake. We discover a lake with a nice access between two wooden huts. We do so a splash in the middle of the ducks. The water is warm is transparent it is a bit hidden so we took the opportunity to rub well. This is the first time of travel that we take this kind of shower and I must say that we were rather pleased as we laughed.

Arrive in Austria to visit Salzburg and make the start of the Red Bull x Alps

Arrive in Austria to visit Salzburg and make the start of the Red Bull x Alps

Wake up, it’s very hot. You head out of the car and we discover where we spent the night. On an area of fairly cracra rests and which doesn’t look very good. It’s a good thing the day before we were too tired to realize this. We’re back soon our installation direction Salzburg to visit the city.

To return to town with the car and Park it’s kinda a hassle because there are jobs everywhere and the Austrians are pretty stressful driving. Asked the Partner on a large parking lot and set off on foot explore the city. We start along the banks of the Salzach and we pass small merchants of trinkets, then we arrive in the small streets of the city centre. They are all pedestrian and circulate that an electric bus. We pass the windows of the Mozart Kuguel, these little chocolates to the dough very famous almonds and pistachios. We do a small rasia then begins visits. (We took the Salzburg card for the day at 26 euros which gives access to all the sights for free and a boat tour).

3Mozart Kuguel: chocolate almond and pistachio paste

First we go to the place with the Statue of Mozart, or there are concerts of classical music in full air.

4Domplatz

We visit the Abbey St Pierre and its catacombs, the churches, the Dom district,…

5

6

We eat on the beautiful fortress that overlooks the city then we do some museums to get cool and end with the boat tour which is still somewhat a tourist. Fortunately, the humorous touch of the driver of the boat timing of the shot with her boyfriend brushes floating by rotating the boat in a circle on the water at the rate of a Mozart Symphony.

We then left the city to climb out of the Red Bull X Alps, the mountain of Gaisberg on red air overlooking the city.

11

Once upstairs we are team, we pay 5 euros (per day) in order to be allowed to take off. Just before flying you meet an Austrian paraglider tandem pilot. He is very friendly and is a paragliding school: “fly mozart”. We explain or is the landing he watching us take off with the two-seater. The view over Salzburg is amazing because you can also see the silhouette of the Alps in the Fund. This flight is tasty because it is very mythical. Nicolas also better than me talking about it.

NICOLAS: “happened in Salzburg is the first thing that jumps to the eye: the Gaisberg, first take-off of the Red Bull X Alps.” It’s the iconic race to market and paragliding which takes place every two years. Basically, starting from the city center of Salzburg, pilots must rally Monaco only by walking and flying. More than… KM best swallow in… days. In this game, many french are very good like Antoine Girard, Gaspard Petiot and others, but the king remains Chrigel Maurer, who wins the race… consecutive years. We’re very happy to be able to take off from here, and that the conditions are very good and it is a beautiful flight over Salzburg. We also wanted to go walking to take off again but the stop here works very well so after 25minutes,’re back us on take-off. I want to do a solo flight while Navy down the car as we have planned a visit to the Castle after. It feels good to do two three wings above trees. »

For his solo flight, Nicolas landed next to my feet by the way over the head. What Nice landing! The Austrian paraglider that we had crossed at the top also attended this aterro and so wanted to hire Nicolas for help of two-seaters as demand is very strong and there’s a lot of work. Happy Nicolas would so well spent a week in the skin of a two-seater monitor but the desire to continue the trip was stronger and fortunately for me, he is back in my partner.

So, we here on the way to the castle of Hellbrunn to attend the show of “Trick Fountains”. It comes water games which are in the pax of the Castle and dating back to the XVI th century.

We spend a very good time to laugh and make splash. The mechanisms of its fountains, by gravity impress us much.

To visit the city it is recommended to leave his car at parking to walk on foot in the city centre or to use buses to travel.

Where to Park?

There are several car parks monitored by a guard outside the city. We went to the parking that is less expensive than underground car parks and named “Augustinerbrau”. It is located to the West of the city but there are also a lot of other car parks as the “Mirabell Congress Garage” in the North, on the other side of the River Salzach, ‘Alltstradt-Automobilteile B’ to the South of Salzburg, or “Fiefgarage jnipark Nnntal” to the East, and many others.

See, what to do in Salzburg?

To visit the monuments or museums in the city, there is the “Salzburg card” that allows to go free in most places of interest of the city. For 24 hours, its price is €27 per adult in peak season and €24 in low season. This card may also be taken for 48 h (€36) or 72 h (€42). For more information, click on this site: http://www.salzburg.info/fr

Feldheim feel like home

Feldheim feel like home

This morning we’ll take the ferry to leave Denmark, direction Rostock in Germany. That’s leaving the Nordic countries with a little pinch in the heart.

Once landed in Germany we must hurry to join South of Berlin as we planned the visit of the village auto sufficient feldheim. As it is quite late, it does not even stop a picnic and you eat in the car. 4 hours later we arrived in a country village, with a main street around which are aligned houses and you see a large cooperative farm as well as wind turbines. In the street there is not many people, and one wonders where they fell. Out of a large building brand new an old man who speaks to us in German, then a second with a hat who speaks that both English and french. Lucky. We follow him then one arrives in the famous building brand-new which is in fact the visitor center of the village. We meet thus Dorine, the Manager of the Center with which we had took contact. She welcomes us really well and then presents us with other people who are with her. His brother making paragliding, the boss of Energiequelle gmbH then the old gentleman who is one of the oldest inhabitant of the village, and finally the man with the hat who is responsible for communication. Wow expected not all this world and it started out a little difficult to understand who does what. They offer us tea and eat cake in a large meeting room. They we then explain the functioning of the village, answering our questions, then we do interviews to achieve program. To lighten the mood, Nicolas speaks paragliding with the brother of Dorine, who was joined by his wife and two daughters as well as a boy. When we ate well, we began to carry out the interviews.

dsc_0911

For the first interview, we interview the CEO of Energiequelle gmbH, which is really nice. Then we ask questions to the old gentleman, resident of the village who does not speak English. We wondered, so how are we going to translate German since neither Nicholas nor I speak a word of the language. Fortunately, the daughter of the brother of Dorine speaks a little the french and above all, the boy who accompanies them is actually a french who spends his holidays in this family. Lucky. We therefore decided to conduct the interview three: Nicolas asking the questions in french, the boy who translated the question in German, the old man who responds in German then the boy who retranslated the answer to Nicolas in french. This Setup seems to work fine but the problem is that the gentleman begins to tell the story of the village of Feldheim from World War II. I think it’s because of the stress of the camera. So again the interview and the second attempt is good.

For the third interview, Dorine explains the birth of its information center. Its role is to welcome people or groups from the four corners of the planet, to learn more about the functioning of the self-sufficient village. Finally, the communication Manager, very professional, although slightly joking, answers our question for the last interview.

After the interviews, the CEO offers us to go see the wind more closely. We’re going then laid out van. Yes Yes in laid out van you read. It belongs to the family of the brother of Dorine. His truck is huge, we’re a little jealous with Nicolas. It goes up to 9 in the van and hop drive. It then looks to go a second time on holiday with our new family. It’s great. Arrived at the foot of the wind turbines, the CEO has joined us and opens the doors of a wind turbine for a visit. We’re too happy is the first wind turbine in which we go and surprise inside: it is empty. There wasn’t some tidy cables and then an elevator to climb to the top of the turbine by the Interior and a table to indicate the wind turbine production, its power… We ask lots of questions and answers. To close this visit eventually a nice family photo in front of the turbine and then again using the road a can to reluctantly, direction the Austria.

On the road it is always not this meeting with this village and this German family. It was really an incredible surprise and a great chance to meet them all. Besides, the appointment to meet again because they will come in the Alps in October for paragliding and discover our mountains.

To win the Austria, the road is long and eventually lie on a rest area in the middle of the trucks after riding well because we’re exhausted.

Roll of churches in churches to get to the cliffs of granite in the island of Mon

We borrow the road to churches on the island of Mon. There are 5 to visit churches dating from the 11th-15th century. Their specificities and commonalities are the paintings on the Interior vaults. In these brick churches there is no stained-glass windows but paintings of scenes from the bible, all by the same artist or the same paint shop.

We also hiked to Mons Klint to go see the white limestone cliffs overlooking the gray pebble beaches. We parked so at the lighthouse, well after the geocenter for not paying the parking lot and go back on foot. Nicolas carries his paragliding in case there is a small place for take off and soaring along the cliffs. Unfortunately, the path that runs along the cliff’s sheltered by thick forest that you cannot even see the sea. He therefore expected to descend a staircase to reach the beach 100 meters further down to contemplate the impressive cliff.

We descend 497 markets to arrive on the beach. The cliffs are not very high: 128 m above the level of the sea, but they are still impressive. The tide is high keeps us to the back of the ride along the sea. So again the same way.

Nicolas who always want to go out his paraglider to dug up on paragliding earth a great site of soaring on the beach. Go there so to see how it is. And the great surprise, the place is desert is splendid. We decided to spend the night here to enjoy the beautiful view on the sea.

The next morning a man walking his dog on the beach and looking at us with a look not very happy. We think that he will come we scold to get here overnight. In fact he approaches us and starts to talk to US in french, is a farmer who lives next door and who had apparently very want to chat with strangers. He’s really sweet and we says he a lot of cycling and will do a tour in the Alps and France next spring. Once gone it is two ladies who walk their dogs coming to talk with us. We stay a little stupid because we thought cars sleeping towards the houses to scare residents but finally not until ca, Swedes like to visit.
